Boy falls from bicycle, misses hitting bus

A Brookville High School freshman didn’t make it to school last Thursday morning because of an accident but it could have been a lot worse.

The 16-year-old boy was riding his bicycle west on Westbrook Road down the hill toward Wolf Creek Street on his way to school when he lost control and fell off his bike, according to the Brookville Police Department.

Fire levy, other issues May 4

New store sells only American goods

Armstrong. Channelock. Milwaukee. Krylon. Minwax. Maglite. Great Neck. Rubbermaid. Scott’s. Ortho. Miracle Grow. Yard Machines by MTD.

They are all popular brand names that you will find in any hardware store. But they are also products that are only made or assembled in the United States of America.

And that’s the only items Brookville’s new hardware store, All American Store, which held its grand opening on April 17, sells.

Citizens trained for emergencies

While some people were sleeping in on Saturday morning or at least staying out of the cold wind, 29 people from Brookville, Lewisburg, New Lebanon, Eaton, and Huber Heights were training to be first responders in their community in the event of a tornado or other emergency.

New book tells story of marathoner, ex-Brookville resident Don McNelly

Next week, on April 20, a book about McNelly and his life of running will be published and released for sale.

Titled The Madman, The Marathoner, written by Juanita Tischendorf, it’s a tale of how this farm boy from Brookville “started running in an effort to lose weight after a college friend died of a heart attack” and became “the world record holder for the number of marathons completed over the age of eighty.”
