CLAYTON — November is National Home Care and Family Caregivers Month – a time for recognizing caregivers across the country. And that’s just what one local business plans to do.
FirstLight Home Care of NW Dayton is thanking its employees, clients and families in recognition of National Home Care Month, which celebrates all the professional caregivers who help people maintain their independence in the place they call home. The company is also celebrating National Family Caregivers Month by acknowledging the dedicated family members who give endlessly of themselves to provide for the health and well-being of a loved one.
Michael Moyer, owner of the FirstLight location, said the partnership between the professional and family caregiver can be profound.
“Our staff and professional caregivers understand the high expectations and values of a family. Trust and excellent communication are at the forefront of the relationship between FirstLight, the family caregiver and the client.” Moyer said. “Professional caregivers also understand the stress on the family caregiver, the relief that we provide can add years to both the family caregiver and the client.”
FirstLight will recognize the importance of professional and family caregivers by providing a paid lunch for all FirstLight professional caregivers via a gift card. FirstLight of NW Dayton will also be offering 3 families with 2-3 hours of respite care for the family caregivers of past or present clients.
Non-medical home care allows people to maintain independence and quality of life through a variety of personal and companion care services. It is most often delivered to aging seniors; adults with disabilities; those recovering from illness, injury or surgery; veterans and those with Alzheimer’s disease or other related dementias. But it can be valuable to any adult needing assistance with the activities of daily living.
According to the Home Care Association of America, more than 40 million Americans are providing care for their loved ones, delivering countless hours of service to their families and communities. Home care can empower seniors to age in place, helping them live safely and independently in the place they call home.
FirstLight provides the care that is essential to daily life and helps minimize the demands on family caregivers. FirstLight’s professional caregivers deliver personal care services that assist with the activities of daily living, such as bathing, mobility, meal preparation and more. Companion care services are also available, providing support through light housekeeping and laundry, errands and transportation, medication reminders and conversation and company.
“FirstLight of NW Dayton’s core values are based on the acronym CARE: Compassion, Above and beyond, Reliable and ready and Exceptional. Our caregivers live those values daily in every aspect of their lives. Living those core values allows the client and their family peace of mind. The wonderful office staff and I are so grateful to have such an extraordinary group of individuals caring for the people in the community that need it most.” explained Moyer
