MONTGOMERY COUNTY — All Montgomery County students in grades 6 through 12 are reminded that the deadline for the Montgomery County Drug-Free Coalition’s Poster and Poetry Contest is fast approaching.
There is a division for students in grades 6 through 8 and a division for students in grades 9 through 12.
Entries must increase public awareness of the harmful effects of heroin, opiates, and illegal prescription drugs and should include the slogan “Saving our Community.”
Entries are due in the Coalition’s offices at 345 West Second Street (Sheriff’s Headquarters Building, 4th floor) in Dayton by 4 p.m. on Friday, January 29, 2016. All winners will be notified by Friday, February 12, 2016.
One overall grand prize winner will be selected, with one first runner-up and one second runner-up from each division per category (poster or poetry). The overall grand prize winner will receive a $100 cash prize and their choice of college scholarship awards (subject to acceptance and enrollment) to either Sinclair Community College (9 credit hours), Wright State University ($2,000), or the University of Dayton ($5,000). Their artwork or poetry will also be reproduced for distribution at various Coalition events throughout Montgomery County. The first place runners-up from each division/category will receive a one-month pass to K12 Gallery & TEJAS for any Saturday Series class (value of each is $120!) The first and second place runners-up from each division will also receive a cash prize. All contestants will be recognized for their participation.
