Northmont area police reports

The following information has been provided by Northmont area police departments. The information listed in this column is considered public record and is available to anyone seeking information concerning what is provided below.

For purposes of this column, the term “arrested” or “charged” does not necessarily mean the person was taken into physical custody. It could also indicate that a summons was issued to the subject in lieu of physical custody.

All the people listed as “arrested” or “charged” are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Thursday, Sept. 29

Clay Township

Report 16-2726-09: Burglary was reported in the 10000 block of State Route 49. Unknown subjects forcibly entered a residence and removed items from moving boxes and ransacked the residence.

Saturday, Oct. 15

Clay Township

Report 16-2865-10: Charles R. Messer, 28, of Dayton 45415, was arrested by Englewood Police on a Clay Township warrant. Messer was released to a Clay Township officer and transported to the Montgomery County Jail.

Monday, Oct. 17

City of Englewood

Report 16-058110: London L. Kilgore, 42, of Englewood, was charged with disorderly conduct after overdosing on heroin. She was transported to Good Samaritan North Emergency Room and issued a court summons.

Tuesday, Oct. 18

City of Clayton

Report 16-2459: The theft of a book bag containing an Apple iPad and science book issued by Northmont High School was reported in the 6200 block of Rangeview Dr. The book bag was removed from a vehicle along with approximately $25 in loose change.

City of Englewood

Report 16-058472: Criminal damaging to a vehicle and telecommunications harassment involving an ex-boyfriend was reported by a female subject. The victim advised she has had a tire slashed, had her car door scratched, had her Facebook and Instagram accounts hacked and has received numerous unwanted text messages from her ex-boyfriend. Police contacted the ex-boyfriend to inform him he was being criminally trespassed from his former girlfriend’s property and warned to stop texting her.

Wednesday, Oct. 19

City of Englewood

Report 16-058370: Yeni E. Hernandez, 23, of Dayton 45431, was charged with theft at Meijer. She was taken into custody and transported to the Montgomery County Jail.

Report 16-058502: The unauthorized use of a motor vehicle was reported at Motel 6. The subject that took the vehicle crashed it at an unknown location and then parked it in the lot of the Waffle House. When the vehicle was found its front bumper was missing, both headlights knocked out with damage to the hood and left front fender. The case was handed over to the detective section due to the damage elevating the offense to felony status.

Report 16-058525: Katelyn L. Johnson, 24, of Dayton 45410, was charged with theft at Wal-Mart. She was taken into custody and transported to the Montgomery County Jail.

Thursday, Oct. 20

City of Clayton

Report 16-2466: Police stopped a vehicle on State Route 48 for not having a front license plate. During the traffic stop the driver was found to be a wanted subject. Lashawna Beckham, 38, of Trotwood, was charged with display of plates required, driving under financial responsibility act suspension, and was arrested on an active warrant issued by Trotwood Police. She was taken into custody and transported to the Montgomery County Jail. While being booked into jail Beckham was discovered to be in possession of marijuana. She was additionally charged with possession of drugs.

Friday, Oct. 21

City of Clayton

Report 16-2472: While performing a business check at Shell True North on Salem Pike an officer observed a vehicle parked on the west side of the building with the driver appearing to be suffering from a medical issue. The driver was leaning forward and then slamming his body back into the seat so violently that it was causing his vehicle to rock. Synay Ly, 29, of Celina, was charged with possessing drug abuse instruments (hypodermic syringes), taken into custody and transported to the Montgomery County Jail.

Report 16-2475: Police responded to the 6400 block of Taywood Road on the report of a burglary in progress. Upon arrival a female resident who was visibly shaken up, advised that an unknown male had just been inside her residence. She stated that while in the upstairs bathroom she heard noise downstairs. She walked down the steps and saw the back of a white male running out of the front door. The male was described as possibly in his 20s to 30s with dark hair wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans. The resident never saw the male’s face and did not see what direction he ran after exiting the house. Two small children were also present in the home. The female stated that she left the front door unlocked. Police canvassed the area for the suspect with negative results.

Report 16-2477: Unknown subjects removed a temporary license tag from a vehicle parked in the 5800 block of Summersweet Drive.

City of Englewood

Report 16-058946: The theft of $155 from the front desk cash drawer was reported at Best Western. The drawer was unlocked at the time the theft occurred.

Saturday, Oct. 22

City of Englewood

Report 16-059025: Cynthia M. Smith, 32, of Union, was charged with violating a protection order. Charges were forwarded to Vandalia Municipal Court.

Report 16-059073: Aaron M. Saunders, 32, of Dayton 45427, was charged with theft at Wal-Mart. He was taken into custody and transported to the Montgomery County Jail.

Sunday, Oct. 23

City of Clayton

Report 16-2497: An officer pulled a vehicle over for a speeding violation on Union Road near Summersweet Drive and discovered the driver was a wanted subject. Eboni McCalter, 31, of Trotwood, was charged with speeding and was arrested on a warrant issued by Trotwood Police. McCalter was released to a Trotwood officer and transported to the Montgomery County Jail.

Report 16-2498: Virginia E. Hall-Brooks, 24, of Beavercreek, was arrested by Beavercreek Police on a warrant issued by Vandalia Municipal Court. She was released to a Clayton officer and transported to the Montgomery County Jail.

City of Englewood

Report 16-059152: Cody A. Turnington, 23, of Englewood, was charged with driving while under the influence after failing a series of field sobriety tests. He was issued a court summons and released to a sober person.

Report 16-059270: The theft of a 26-inch Mongoose mountain bike was reported at Northmoor Elementary. The theft took place after school hours and while the bike was in the parking lot near the playground equipment.
