Northmont area police reports

The following information has been provided by Northmont area police departments. The information listed in this column is considered public record and is available to anyone seeking information concerning what is provided below.

For purposes of this column, the term “arrested” or “charged” does not necessarily mean the person was taken into physical custody. It could also indicate that a summons was issued to the subject in lieu of physical custody.

All the people listed as “arrested” or “charged” are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Thursday, Feb. 23

Clay Township

Report 17-1771-02: Anthony P. Stevens, 28, of Greenville, was arrested in Miami County on a warrant issued by Clay Township Police. Stevens was released to a Clay Twp. officer and transported to the Montgomery County Jail.

Report 17-1822-02: A Brookville resident reported that he had been contacted by Target and was informed that someone tried to open a credit account using his Social Security number. The same thing happened at the end of December. Target advised that they could put a block on his Social Security number. He also received an alert from a credit bureau. The victim has no idea how someone obtained his Social Security number.

Friday, Feb. 24

Clay Township

Report 17-1960-02: Police pulled a vehicle over due to the registered owner being listed as a wanted subject. Robert H. Thompson, 34, of Dayton 45449, was arrested on a warrant issued for failure to appear in Montgomery County Juvenile Court. Thompson was taken into custody and transported to the Montgomery County Jail.

Monday, Feb. 27

City of Englewood

Report 17-011856: Police responded to Kroger on the report of an intoxicated female inside the store. Employees state that the female had struck a vehicle when she pulled into the parking lot but there was no damage. The owner of the vehicle she struck did not wish to press charges. When the female exited the store police detected an odor of alcohol about her. She provided two different Social Security numbers, neither of which returned to her. Eventually police obtained her identity and found that she was a wanted subject. Lindsey A. Daniels, 28, of Troy, was arrested on two warrants issued by the Miami County Sheriff’s Office for a probation violation and for failure to appear with no bond. Daniels was taken into custody and released to Miami County Deputy Tim Larger.

Report 17-011899: Criminal damaging was reported at Joe Schmitt & Sons Plumbing. Unknown subjects broke the break light lenses on a trailer and removed the pin to the drop jack. A chain running between small metal poles had fallen to the ground as though someone had been standing on it. An extra watch on the business was requested.

Report 17-012005: The theft of an employee’s cell phone was reported at Yen Ching House. The victim stated the phone was on the work side of the counter next to the cash register and someone must have reached over and taken it while she was assisting customers.

Report 17-012018: Police pulled a vehicle over on National Road that was speeding. The driver was found to be a wanted subject. Police found a 22 ounce beer on the floorboard and a cup containing an alcoholic beverage in the cup holder. Michael T. Fealy, 38, of Vandalia, was charged with speeding, failure to reinstate license, open container and was arrested on a warrant through Preble County for failure to appear. Fealy was taken into custody and released to a Preble County deputy sheriff.

Wednesday, March 1

City of Englewood

Report 17-012407: Rachael M. Kenner, 39, of Piqua, was charged with passing bad checks. Charges were forwarded to Vandalia Municipal Court.

Thursday, March 2

City of Clayton

Report 17-445: Police observed a vehicle traveling north on Salem Pike being operated by a wanted subject. Nathan A. Sprowl, 39, of Gordon, was arrested on an active warrant and transported to the Montgomery County Jail.

City of Englewood

Report 17-012720: Tracy L. Crabtree, 40, of Dayton 45417, was charged with theft at Flamingo Tan. She was taken into custody and transported to the Montgomery County Jail.

Friday, March 3

City of Englewood

Report 17-012954: A 16-year-old female was charged with being unruly on Parkview Avenue. Charges were forwarded to Montgomery County Juvenile Court.

Saturday, March 4

City of Englewood

Report 17-013084: While on patrol an officer spotted a vehicle being driven by a wanted subject. Larry W. Ochoa, 42, of Dayton 45417, was arrested on a warrant issued by Montgomery County Area 1 Court for failure to appear for arraignment. Ochoa was taken into custody and released.

Report 17-013107: A 15-year-old female was charged with being unruly after attempting to shoplift at Walmart. She was taken into custody and transported to the Montgomery County Juvenile Detention Center.
