Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis are chronic digestive diseases that range in their severity. Some patients are able to put their disease into remission with the use of pharmaceuticals while many require surgery. It is estimated that some 1.6 million Americans suffer from IBD, with approximately 30,000 new cases diagnosed each year.
