Northmont area police reports

The following information has been provided by Northmont area police departments. The information listed in this column is considered public record and is available to anyone seeking information concerning what is provided below.

For purposes of this column, the term “arrested” or “charged” does not necessarily mean the person was taken into physical custody. It could also indicate that a summons was issued to the subject in lieu of physical custody.

All the people listed as “arrested” or “charged” are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Sunday, Sept. 27

Clay Township

Report 15-2427-09: Police responded to a residence in the 7600 block of N. Preble County Line Rd. where two subjects alleged that they found someone trying to break into their residence. This was found to be false information and both residents were subsequently charged. Joshua M. Freiberger, 35, of Clay Township, was charged with falsification and obstructing official business. Dawn E. Smyer, 24, of Clay Township, was charged with falsification. Both Freiberger and Smyer were issued a court summons.

Monday, Oct. 5

City of Clayton

Report 15-1879: Unknown subjects broke the front and rear driver’s side windows on a vehicle parked on Cedar Bluff Circle. Upon inspection it appeared as if someone had shot the vehicle multiple times with a BB gun or slingshot.

City of Englewood

Report 15-054696: The theft of a Razor stunt bike with silver stunt bars, gold brakes and mountain bike type tires was reported in the 4200 block of Wynfield Place.

Clay Township

Report 15-2488-10: Police responded to a residence in the 8800 block of N. Kimmel Road on the report of a theft in progress with the suspect possibly driving a vehicle under the influence. Joshua M. Berry, 33, of Englewood, was charged with driving under the influence. He registered at .156 percent on a breath intoxilyzer test. Berry was issued a court summons and released to a family member.

Report 15-2486-10: Unknown subjects removed a Craftsman garden tiller and a Craftsman lawnmower from a storage area at the rear of a residence in the 8900 block of National Road.

Tuesday, Oct. 6

City of Clayton

Report 15-1887: Unknown subjects removed a 250 foot, c28 copper spool from the open bed of a work truck parked on Debbie Court.

City of Englewood

Report 15-054855: Police received information about a subject in a vehicle at Tim Horton’s that was observed injecting himself with drugs. The vehicle was then observed heading north on State Route 48 and police eventually caught up to the vehicle on Sweet Potato Ridge Road. Police found a syringe, spoon and clear plastic bag containing capsules with a brown, powdery substance. Mitchell K. Didier, 20, of Versailles, was charged with possession of heroin and possessing drug abuse instruments. He was transported to the county jail.

Report 15-054905: Police responded to Englewood Hills Elementary on the report of a subject on the playground with a firearm. The subject explained he was the school for a church function and wanted to show some of the kids how to shoot his Red Rider BB gun. He acknowledged that he had fired the BB gun. Ryan N. Fugett, 45, of Clayton 45315, was charged with discharging/pointing a firearm within the city limits. He was issued a court summons and released.

Wednesday, Oct. 7

City of Clayton

Report 15-1890: Police responded to the area of Persimmon Tree Court on the report of a suspicious subject breaking into vehicles. Upon arrival officers found a silver Pontiac with its trunk standing open. Officers contacted the owner of the vehicle who confirmed a cell phone charger and stereo head unit had been stolen. The suspect was driving an older model, light blue four door sedan with noticeable front end damage. Shortly before this incident Trotwood Police responded to several suspicious subject reports that resulted in thefts from vehicles in the area of Basore and Westbrook roads.

Report 15-1892: Unknown subjects broke the rear window on a pickup truck parked on Persimmon Tree Court.

Thursday, Oct. 8

City of Englewood

Report 15-055224: A 15-year-old male was charged with domestic violence and released to his guardians.

Report 15-055357: Jason J. Heath, 30, of Dayton 45417, was charged with domestic violence. Charges were forwarded to Vandalia Municipal Court.

Report 15-055358: Unknown subjects removed a temporary license tag from the rear of a vehicle parked in the 4000 block of Clearstream Way.

Friday, Oct. 9

City of Clayton

Report 15-1901: Breaking and entering was investigated at a vacant building in the 8200 block of N. Main St. The front door had been kicked in and an interior door also sustained damage.

Saturday, Oct. 10

City of Englewood

Report 15-055576: Police responded to the 500 block of Unger Ave. on the report of an overdose. Scott W. Florence, 38, of Englewood, was charged with disorderly conduct while intoxicated. Medics arrived and administered Narcan to counteract the heroin Florence had inhaled. He was transported to the hospital for treatment. Charges were forwarded to Vandalia Municipal Court.

Sunday, Oct. 11

Report 15-055945: Justin A. Kirk, 35, at large, was charged with theft at Meijer. He was transported to the county jail.

Report 15-055978: Alexander James O’Melia-Neal, 18, of Clayton, was charged with theft at Wal-Mart. Charges were forwarded to Vandalia Municipal Court.
