ENGLEWOOD & UNION — Santa will be visiting the cities of Englewood and Union this weekend when both communities host annual holiday celebrations.
The annual City of Englewood ‘Holiday Open House’ will be held Saturday, November 28 at the Englewood Government Center, 333 W. National Rd., with doors opening at 6 p.m. Festivities will kick off with Conductor Tim Elliot and the Englewood Civic performing holiday music beginning at 6:30 p.m.
There will be ongoing entertainment for children throughout the evening including holiday balloon animals and a visit from Santa at 7 p.m. Refreshments will also be provided. The celebration is free and open to the public.
The City of Union will hold its annual tree lighting ceremony on Sunday, November 29 at 6 p.m. at the corner of Montgomery Street and Martindale Road at the Union Fire Station. Guests should arrive before 6 p.m. as Santa Claus will arrive at the fire station on a fire truck at 6 p.m. Parents can bring cameras to take pictures of their children visiting with Santa against a seasonal background that will make a great keepsake for the holiday.
The Union Park Board and Fire and Rescue Department will provide hot chocolate and cookies. Families are asked to bring a nonperishable food donation for the Northmont FISH Food Pantry, or donations can be dropped off at Union City Hall, 118 N. Main St.
