COLUMBUS — State Representative Michael Henne (R-Clayton) Friday announced MaKara Blake as the 40th House District winner of the 2016 Ohio House of Representatives Student Art Exhibition.
Blake attends Stivers School for the Arts in Dayton and is taught by Julie Anderson and Lizabeth Whipps.
“I am always impressed by the wealth of artistic talent among students in the district,” said Rep. Henne. “It had to be difficult to choose just one winner. Congratulations to MaKara for this terrific achievement.”
The exhibition is open to the public at the Vern Riffe Center for Government and the Arts in the lower level Statehouse connector through December 30.
The Ohio House of Representatives, Ohio Arts Council, and Ohio Art Education Association joined together for this inaugural student exhibition, which showcases high school artwork from all 99 Ohio House Districts. The exhibition recognizes the talents, creativity, and innovation of students who receive high quality arts education instruction as part of their academic experience in school and represents art by some of Ohio’s finest high school artists.
