CLAYTON — ‘Loves Does,’ a four-week community outreach emphasis at Salem Church of God, will get under way during the 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. worship services on Sunday, July 10.
The series includes an outreach action day on Sunday, July 24, when – following an abbreviated 9:30 a.m. worship service – an estimated 55 teams from Salem, involving more than 1,000 people, will travel to locations across the Miami Valley to undertake a myriad of service projects.
A year ago, Salem put together 33 teams that involved 850 people in an inaugural “Love Does Sunday.”
“In this series, we will explore what it is like to love your neighbor while redefining the word ‘missionary,’ ” said Salem Lead Pastor Steve Southards.
The series will culminate in “Love Does” Celebration Sunday services at 9:30 and 11 a.m. on July 31. Baptisms in the church pond and a picnic will follow the 11 a.m. service.
“Love Does is more than a service day. ‘Love Does’ is an idea,” said Kyle Hayes, outreach pastor at Salem. “We aim to be a people who lives out the real call to love our neighbor more than ourselves. We don’t believe that love sits by, but that love does.”
