Award-winning author to speak in Clayton

CLAYTON — ‘Finding God in the Darkness’ is an upcoming five-part teaching series at Salem Church of God, which will begin on Sunday, March 5 with award-winning author Jonathan Foster as the guest speaker.

“Life doesn’t always go the way we planned, and bad things still happen,” said Steve Southards, lead pastor at Salem. “We pray and hope, but there are no answers. God seems distant. In this series, we will explore how to trust God when things don’t make sense.”

Foster, who leads Mission Church in Lenexa, KS, and who has spoken to thousands across the nation, also directs LQVE, a nonprofit organization that serves the people of southeast Haiti. He is the author of “Death, Hope & the Laughter of God” and other books, all of which will be available along with LQVE items at Salem on March 5.

The series schedule:

* “When I Don’t Feel Him” – Sunday, March 5

* “When I Can’t Hear Him” – Sunday, March 12

* “When I Am Waiting” – Sunday, March 19

* “When I Am Struggling” – Sunday, March 26

* “When It Hurts” – Sunday, April 2
