COLUMBUS — ODI Director Jillian Froment has announced the Ohio Department of Insurance will hold a series of free “Welcome to Medicare” presentations in Montgomery, Greene & Clark Counties in April and May to help soon-to-be Medicare recipients learn about coverage options.
The events are scheduled as follows:
• April 20, at 2 p.m. & 6: p.m.; United Senior Services, 125 W. Main Street, Springfield
• May 16, at 6 p.m.; Earl Heck Community Center, 201 N. Main Street, Englewood
• May 22, at 6 p.m.; Boonshoft Center for Jewish Culture and Education, 525 Versailles Drive, Centerville I n partnership with Jewish Family Services
Topics will include Medicare Part A and B benefits, the Part D prescription drug benefit, Medicare Supplement plans, Medicare Advantage plans, financial assistance, and key deadlines.
“These events are a great resource for Ohioans who are seeking information about Medicare coverage,” said Lt. Governor Taylor, also director of the Ohio Department of Insurance. “Future Medicare recipients will come away from these events better prepared to select coverage that best suits their budget and health care needs.”
In 2016 the department was ranked #1 in the nation and saved Ohioans $28.8 million by assisting people in comparing and selecting appropriate plans and connecting individuals with financial assistance programs.
You are eligible for Medicare if you or your spouse worked for at least 10 years in Medicare-covered employment, you are 65 years or older and a citizen or permanent resident of the United States.
If you are not 65, you might qualify for coverage if you have a disability or End-Stage Renal Disease (permanent kidney failure requiring dialysis or transplant).
