CLAYTON — Northmont girls tennis ended a tough week with a 4-1 win at home Wednesday over Greenville to improve to 4-2 overall.
At first singles Akilah Parker [Northmont] defeated Molly Hunt 6-0, 6-0.
Second singles saw Marissa Anderson [Northmont] score a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Anja Mertel.
Kennedy Harden [Northmont] defeated Anna Mangas 6-0, 6-2 at third singles.
At first doubles Michelle Hibbard and Morgan Grandfield [Northmont] defeated Mallory Rich and Bavneep Kaur 3-6, 6-4, 10-6 [tie break instead of 3rd set].
Greenville won at second doubles where Casey Malott and Hannah Gulley defeated Whitney White and Lauren Kelsey 3-6, 7-5 8-6 [tie break instead of 3rd set].
The Lady Bolts dropped two matches earlier this week, both to undefeated teams. Monday saw Northmont fall to Bellbrook in a close 3-2 match.
Parker [Northmont] won at first singles 4-6, 7-5, 7-6 [6-3] over Rachel Heinz.
At second singles Andrea Szep [Bellbrook] defeated Marissa Anderson 6-0, 6-1.
At third singles Harden [Northmont] defeated Meghna Kumar 6-0, 6-0.
At first doubles Shea Foster and Abby Schultz [Bellbrook] defeated Hibbard and Grandfield 6-2, 7-5.
Melissa Wahl and Ali Contestable [Bellbrook] defeated White and Kelsey 6-4, 6-1.
Tuesday the Lady Bolts were swept at Springboro 5-0.
First singles saw Anke Patel defeat Parker 7-6, 6-1.
Ally Garofoli defeated Anderson 6-3, 6-1 at second singles.
Christina Fote scored at 6-2, 6-1 victory over Harden at third singles.
In first doubles action Maddy Talbot and Jessa Grossman defeated Michelle Hibbard/Morgan Grandfield 6-2, 6-0.
At second doubles Morgan Hillis and Olivia Decuir defeated Serenity Anderson and Molly Buchanan 6-0, 6-0.
The Lady Bolts return to action on Monday when they host Tippecanoe at 4:30 p.m. then host Fairmont on Tuesday and play at Fairborn on Wednesday.
