CENTERVILLE — The Northmont girls tennis team defeated Centerville 3-2 on the road September 15, winning at all three singles positions.
With the victory Northmont improved to 13-3 overall and 3-1 in division play while Centerville fell to 8-7 and 2-2.
Akilah Parker defeated Ashley Amiri in straight sets at first singles 6-1, 6-2.
At second singles Marissa Anderson fought back from a 2-5 deficit in the first set to win in a tie-breaker [7-3], followed by an easier second set for the victory at second singles.
Centerville won on both doubles courts, leaving the match to be decided at third singles.
Kennedy Harden dropped the first set 2-6, but she cleaned up her unforced errors and took the next two sets 6-3, 6-1 to secure a Northmont team victory.
On September 16 Northmont faced top-ranked Chaminade-Julienne and lost 5-0.
“The final score is not indicative of how close this match was on the singles courts,” said Northmont Coach Chrissy Hall. “First and second singles went three sets, and third singles was decided by a very slim margin in both sets.”

At first singles Kelly Pleiman defeated Parker 6-1, 3-6, 6-3.
Brianna Douglas defeated Anderson 7-5, 6-7 , 10-8 at second singles.
Katarina Dranchak defeated Harden at third singles 7-5, 7-5.
At first doubles Alexis Robinson and Amanda Draeger posted a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Michelle Hibbard and Morgan Grandfield.
At second doubles Olivia Boch and Bice defeated Whitney White and Lauren Kelsey 6-1, 6-0.
Monday the Northmont tennis team celebrated their seniors before the match and the 4-1 victory over Brookville afterwards.
“It was a great Senior Night atmosphere with lots of friends and family support. Thanks to everyone for making it a special night,” Hall said.
