DAYTON — For only the second time in 15 years the Northmont girls golf team advanced to district tournament play by placing third on the Hawk course at Kittyhawk Golf Course during the sectional tournament.
The Lady Bolts advance to play in the Southwest Ohio District Golf tournament at Weather Wax Golf course Thursday, October 15. Only the top four teams and individuals not on a qualifying team advance to district.
Northmont scored a 394 to place third behind Centerville with a 301 and Miamisburg with a 385. Tippecanoe placed fourth with a 398.
Senior Emma Saltsman led the Lady Bolts with a score of 96 followed by seniors Sarah Advakov with a 98 and Britney Hansard with a 99 while sophomore Amara Tipple finished with a 101.
“What an awesome group of young ladies I have had the pleasure of coaching this season,” said Northmont Coach Vivian Bibler. “We are so very excited and proud to have placed 3rd at our sectionals – right behind Centerville and Miamisburg to advance to the next level of high school golf. Tipp City and Troy tied for fourth place with Tipp City’s Number 5 beating Troy’s Number 5 player. Congratulations Lady Bolts! Fairways and greens ladies! I am so very proud of your accomplishments this season!”
First place Centerville was led by tournament medalist senior Esha Kulkarni with a 71 while freshmen players Kayla Ramsey shot a 74 and Marissa Wenzler finished at 76. Junior Amanda Hayes rounded out the top four with an 80.
Individual district qualifiers were senior Alyssa Burritt of Bellbrook (75), sophomore Loren Morland of Stivers (89), junior Emmy Cobb of Oakwood (91) and senior LennAnn Black of Troy (92).
