CLAYTON — Northmont squared off with Trotwood-Madison in boys tennis action Wednesday and faced a very competitive Rams lineup.
The Thunderbolts played solid tennis to score a 4-1 victory over a T-M lineup that featured some talented athletes.
First singles play saw Andrew Correll defeat Emir Moore 6-0, 6-0.
Northmont’s only loss came at second singles where Justin Dorsten fell to Kobe Vinegar 6-4, 5-7, 3-6.
At third singles Cameron Coffman defeated Trevon Battle 6-4, 6-3.
First doubles saw Cameron Daniel and Austin Lucas defeat Luke Hogan and George Walker 6-0, 6-4.
At second doubles Nathan Webb and Dan Adams defeated Keijuan Foster and Jay Nelloms 6-2, 6-0.
“Today was a great match for us,” said Northmont Coach Jessica Maio. “We have been struggling a little bit this season against tough opponents. I had a talk with the whole team about believing in themselves and having the confidence that they could go out there and compete with anyone. Since that talk I have seen a huge difference in their confidence as well as their competitiveness. We are standing currently at 5-4 overall and still have some tough matches coming up, but I am proud of these guys for hanging in there, trying their best, and never giving up.”
Trotwood fell to 4-6 overall with loss.
Northmont hosts Piqua today (April 21), plays at Milton-Union tomorrow, hosts Tippecanoe on Monday and Centerville on Tuesday then travels to Carlisle on Wednesday.
