CLAYTON — On August 31 the Northmont girls golf team hosted Troy at Meadowbrook at Clayton with junior Amara Tipple recording a personal best round of 39 to lead the Lady Bolts to a 187 to 250 victory.
The win saw Northmont improve to 6-1 overall.
Tipple had a birdie on Hole 18 with one double bogey during the round.
“She was real close to shooting par,” said Northmont Coach Vivian Bibler. “I am so excited because that is a new personal best for her.”
Junior Ashley Singer shot a 48 while senior Morgan Sterner finished at 49, junior Hannah Toth shot 51 and junior Maddie Jaehnen finished with a 54.
“I am getting really excited to see how the season is going to finish out and to see what other players can achieve their personal best goals,” Bibler stated. “The girls are doing so well. I am so proud of all of them. This year we have focused more on invitational tournaments and 18 hole rounds to lower our scores and it appears to be working. Along with the hard work the girls are putting in and private lessons they have had, it’s really paid off and they have been a great group to work with.”
Northmont hosts Butler on Tuesday, Sept. 6 and then plays at Kittyhawk against Wayne on Wednesday, Sept. 7. The Lady Bolts will face Fairmont at Community Golf Course on Sept. 13.
