ARCANUM — After a drenching rain storm suspended play at the girls GWOC Postseason tournament at Beechwood Golf Course September 28, the boys tournament the following day came off without a drop of rain failing form the heavens.
The course was in good shape despite the prior day’s soaking rain. Northmont posted a team score of 355 to place 10th overall out of 19 teams. Centerville and Butler led the field with identical team scores of 296 followed by Springboro at 302 and Fairmont at 317.
Junior Cole Stephens led Northmont with a round of 86 followed by sophomore Alec Avdakov at 87, sophomore Noah Thayer with 90 and freshman Gavin Caras with a 92. Sophomores David Richards finished with a 93 while Jackson Trottier has a 101.
“Sophomore Noah Thayer has made steady progress all season long and that was manifested in his score of 90 today,” said Northmont coach Nathan Hannahan. “Freshman Gavin Caras rode a rollercoaster of ups and downs to round out our team score with a 92. Sophomore David Richards battled back from an opening round 50 to post 43 on the back nine for an overall score of 93. Sophomore Jackson Trottier, who led the T-Bolts with a personal best score of 87 at the GWOC Preseason tournament in August, posted a score of 101 today.”
