Springfield’s other victory came at second doubles where Emily Hasecke and Katrina Dooley defeated Whitney White and Serenity Anderson 0-6, 7-6, 6-2.
“This was such an even match. We won two courts early, but then the final three matches all went three sets,” said Northmont Coach Chrissy Hall. “Springfield came from behind at both second singles and second doubles to even the match 2-2. It came down to first doubles, and Ayana and Ashton were playing some of their best tennis of the year as they pulled out a 6-2 win in their third set, clinching the match for us!”
Monday the Lady Bolts hosted Tipp and were swept 5-0.
At first singles Amelia Zweizig defeated Lauren Kelsey 6-4, 6-1.
Second singles saw Dakota Schroeder defeat Athaiah Peters 6-0, 6-1.
At third singles Sophia McDowell defeated Hailey Jenkins 6-1, 6-0.
First doubles play saw Jordan Jones and Claire Wint defeat Ayana McCain and Ashton Slusher 6-2, 6-0.
At second doubles Annie Livesay and Tasha Bruner defeated Whitney White and Rachel Smith 6-2, 6-0.
“Tipp is a very young but talented group,” Hall noted. “We were expecting a more competitive showing tonight at some spots, but we struggled at almost every position.”
