DAYTON — Prosecuting Attorney Mat Heck, Jr. announced Jan. 13 that Taylor Wesley Walter, 28, of Brookville, has been indicted on counts in connection to the stabbing death of his mother, Donna Walter, on February 12, 2020.
On the afternoon of Wednesday, February 12, Donna Walter’s sister became concerned about her because she could not reach her by phone or text. The sister called a neighbor of the victim and asked her to check on her. The neighbor found Donna Walter unconscious and bloody, and called 911.
Perry Township Police and Brookville medics responded to the Brookville‐Pyrmont Road residence. She was pronounced deceased. The autopsy determined the victim had been stabbed approximately 30 times with a kitchen knife.
Further investigation determined that the victim’s son, Taylor Walter, had committed the murder. At the time of the homicide, Taylor Walter was under indictment for aggravated possession of drugs from an incident that occurred on September 3, 2019 on Upper Lewisburg Road. That case is pending.
Jan. 13, the Montgomery County Grand Jury indicted Taylor Walter for:
• Two counts of murder
• One count of felonious assault with a deadly weapon
• One count of felonious assault causing serious harm
He was previously indicted on June 15, 2020 for burglary and other counts in an unrelated case that occurred on Johnsville‐Brookville Road on June 4, 2020. That case is currently scheduled for a trial in April.
Walter was arraigned on this new case on Tuesday, January 19 at 8:30 a.m.
