ENGLEWOOD — This month’s historic photo shows five members of the Junior Council on World Affairs (JCOWA) club at Randolph H. S. in 1955.
They are demonstrating a town meeting for the student body. The twenty-five students in the club were interested in world affairs and current events. Their advisor was Mr. Richard Suhr, history teacher. Highlights of the year included a United Nations assembly at the school, and a study trip in April to Washington D. C. and New York with JCOWA students from other Dayton area high schools.
More than 30 members of the Class of 1955 attended their 60th class reunion in town a few weeks ago, some coming from as far away as Hawaii (Owen Macy). Three days of activities were planned, one stop being the Randolph Township Historical Society (RTHS) History Center where class member Diana Dunn donated many Randolph High School related items, including this photo, to the Society’s archives.
RTHS is always interested in preserving local historic memorabilia and photos. If you have items of local historic interest to share, please call 832-1858.
