Northmont to bill state

ENGLEWOOD — In press release Tuesday the Northmont Board of Education stated that it is tired of the demands of the State of Ohio’s policy makers and the lack of additional funding.

“The Board is furious that in the midst of financial strain, they are required to pay for students who live in the community, but do not attend Northmont City Schools,” said Northmont Superintendent Dr. Sarah Zatik.

Monday, December 7 at 5 p.m. during a special meeting of the Board at Union Elementary, 418 W. Martindale Rd., Union, a resolution will be presented to bill the State of Ohio for over $430,000 (per year) that has been designated for failing charter schools.

Anticipated state funding cuts and the last two tax reappraisals represent a total loss of $4.8 million and the district is faced with having to ask voters in March 2016 for new operating money for the first time in six years.
