COLUMBUS — A total of 43 Northmont DECA students competed at the 72nd Annual Ohio DECA Career Development Conference in Columbus March 18 and 19. The students competing earned the right to compete by qualifying at the District DECA competition.
Seven students qualified for the International Career Development Conference to be held in Nashville, Tennessee from April 23 to 26.
The following students qualified:
Naomi Baker, Sydney Danklef, and Ryan Pullins – 1st Place Financial Literacy Promotion Project.
Adrienne Draper – 2nd Place Franchising Business Plan.
Bethel Aseffa, Rachael Leier and Abby Mergler – 3rd Place Creative Marketing Project.
The Chapter also had the following Student Place Top Ten in the State in their respective events:
Grace Counts, Emily Howard, and Riley Jenkins – Learn and Earn Project.
Shawn Richards, Danielle Kunkle, and Tyler Liddy – Innovation Plan.
Stephanie Snell – Principals of Finance.
Anna Mangen – Principals of Hospitality and Tourism.
Nadia McMichael and Audrey Osudoh – Travel and Tourism Team Decision Making.
“I thought this was a very exciting year for us,” said Eric Wagner, Northmont DECA advisor. “To have Naomi Baker serve as a state officer throughout the year and to have so many sophomores do so well really shows that the future is bright for the chapter. It is also so great to see hard their work and dedication pay off for our students. I am beyond excited to take students to Nashville and I am very excited to see what the students can accomplish at the next level.”
