DAYTON — Montgomery County Prosecuting Attorney Mat Heck, Jr. announced that Mr. Kerry Smoot has been appointed to the position of Criminal Investigator and Secret Service Officer in the Montgomery County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
Smoot received his Basic Police Officer Training Certificate from the Sinclair Police Academy in 2002. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Cincinnati in 2002, majoring in Criminal Justice.
He has nearly 14 years of experience as a police officer, most recently as a patrol officer with the City of Englewood. Prior to joining the Englewood Police Department, he was a patrol officer in Beavercreek.
As a criminal investigator, Mr. Smoot will provide support for criminal felony cases, conduct general investigations of all types including consumer fraud complaints, criminal non-support cases, and locating witnesses and others involved in criminal cases.
Smoot, who grew up in Englewood, is married and lives in Brookville with his wife and their child.
