CLAYTON — A crowd estimated at approximately 1,000 on Sunday attended the City of Clayton’s 1st annual Labor Day Fireworks Celebration held at Meadowbrook Golf Course.
Starting at 5 p.m. the event featured children’s games and crafts, a bounce house and performances by
Northmont a capella group Catalyst as well as the Northmont Jazz Band.
Attendees enjoyed food and drinks as well as cotton candy, popcorn, snocones and other treats. Some area residents viewed the fireworks display from their yards. Others gathered in nearby parking lots as far away as Northmont Plaza where a crowd gathered to view the display at the east side of lot near Chase Bank.
The fireworks were launched from the 10th fairway behind the clubhouse. Spectators sat in lawn chairs in the paved area behind the clubhouse and sat on blankets in the adjacent grassy areas. Handicap viewing was available inside the clubhouse through the large windows overlooking the fairway.
The display lasted roughly half an hour. Overall everyone attending appeared to enjoy the festivities, which turned out to be a nice family event.
