COLUMBUS — The Northmont DECA Chapter competed at the Ohio DECA Fall Leadership Conference in Columbus on Monday November 28.
Grace Counts, Emily Howard, Claudia Studebaker, and David Vennemeyer earned the right to compete in the Public Relations event and Meredith Saylor earned the right to compete in the Parliamentary Law event. Along, with these competitors Ryan Pullins ran a campaign to become Ohio DECA Vice President of Marketing.
All of the students made finals in their events and Grace Counts finished 3rd in Ohio. Along with these current students, Northmont DECA Alum, Naomi Baker, finished her one year term as the Ohio DECA Vice President of Marketing.
“I thought the students worked very hard to get to the Ohio DECA Fall Leadership Conference,” said Eric Wagner, Northmont DECA advisor. “To have all the students who are competing in Columbus make the finals says a lot about the chapter’s drive for success and the determination of the students. To have Grace finish in 3rd place in the event is an amazing accomplishment for her, as this was an improvement from last year and for the chapter. I hope that we can take the momentum from this conference and move it into the spring conference later in the year.”
