DAYTON — Montgomery County Auditor Karl Keith appointed Kate Evans, a veteran of county and local government, to the position of chief deputy auditor, the top appointed position in the Auditor’s Office, on June 1.
Evans has held the position of assistant treasurer for tax delinquency in the Montgomery County Treasurer’s Office for the past five years. Previously, she served as a legislative aide in the Dayton City Commission Office.
Evans has lived and studied in Montgomery County her whole life. Growing up in Clayton, she attended Northmont High School and upon graduation attended the University of Dayton, where she received her undergraduate degree in political science. Evans later received a master’s of public administration from Wright State University. She currently resides in the Five Oaks neighborhood in Dayton.
“I’m extremely excited to have Kate on board. It’s great to have someone like her who has lived in the community her whole life, and who has extensive management experience in county government.” Keith said.
Evans will have many important responsibilities in the Auditor’s Office. The chief deputy auditor serves as the office’s top administrative officer and represents the auditor in his absence.
Evans assumes the position with the retirement of former Chief Deputy Auditor Michele Roberts. Roberts served in the position for nearly 15 years, retiring after nearly 30 years of public service.
“Michele has been a key part of our team here and she will be missed. Michele has been a knowledgeable and hardworking chief deputy and we wish her the best in her retirement,” Keith said.
