CLAY TWP. — A navy blue building can be spotted on Pleasant Plain Road, donning, “Melody Pool Swim Club.”
It is there where many families enjoy their summers, just as the Fisher family did many years before Englewood residents Brent and Barb Fisher became the new owners.
The Fisher’s first thought about buying Melody Pool when it first came up for sale. They took initiative, and purchased the pool in October 2016, in hopes of providing better up-keep for the place.
“We want to continue the tradition,” stated Brent Fisher.
Barb Fisher talked about how their two kids were basically raised at Melody Pool, because it was such a great place they could always come to for a good time.
“We’re bringing back teen nights on Thursdays, and we want to have an adult night on Fridays,” explained Mr. Fisher.
The Fisher’s also plan on making Melody even more inviting by changing the paint, while still trying to keep the traditional look.
Melody Pool was built a little over 53 years ago, according to Mr. Fisher, who said the previous owners were Fred and Debby Oyer.
The pool and grounds feature grassy areas, picnic tables, and a playset with swings and slides for children.
Other attractions include the affordable concession stand, a sand volleyball court, ping pong, corn hole, and mini golf.
Mr. Brent Fisher is a graduate of Westland High School in Columbus, while Barb is a graduate from Greenville High School. They moved to the Northmont area in 1988, where their son and daughter have graduated from.
Mr. and Mrs. Fisher still have jobs with Delta Airlines, where Brent is a grant manager, and Barb is a flight attendant. Their daughter Breanna manages the pool when they are not there.
“We love how it brings the community together with people from Englewood, Vandalia, Brookville, and even Arcanum,” stated the couple.
Melody Pool is still offering memberships, where an individual costs $235 per season, a family of two costs $365, a family of three costs $415, and a family of four costs $455; any additional member is an extra $40.
Guests may only access the pool with a member, and pay $8 per visit. Kids age 2 and under get in for free.
The pool has multiple diving boards, a completely fenced in kiddie pool area, umbrella tables, and plenty of lounge chairs. Members may even rent a shelter for parties.
The Fisher family is excited to own Melody Pool, and they hope to inspire happiness in the lives of their many members and guests.
